Okay honeys! lets talk post-wedding getaways. With so many choices out there, the real question is where should I go? well, we believe there isn’t a one size fits all approach, some couples prefer relaxation holidays, others extreme adventures so instead of providing you with a generic list of holiday destinations, we’ve compiled a list of hot spots based on your wedding month. After all, honeymoons are for incredible experiences with memories that will endure for a lifetime.
Here are our picks!
January
Dubai The city is one of the seven emirates and delivers great weather all year round (with the exception of summer – unless you’re into 48 degree days) from romantic overnight desert safaris, hot air ballooning, shopping and weekly ladies nights (free drinks for us chickas!) Dubai offers the perfect combination of relaxation, fun and play. Be sure to check out Medinat Jumeirah for that ‘gram shot.
Maldives As cliche as it is, the Maldives is a perfect honeymoon spot for couples looking for that white sand beach escape. Be warned though, those insta worthy resorts will set you back a fair bit. What we love – no hawkers selling you kaftans, hats or sunglasses unless you actively seek them out.
February
Hawaii Aloha! with plenty of Islands to choose from, Hawaii offers the perfect blend of adventure, relaxation, shopping, health and all things food. The weather in February is great and if you purchase your flights at the right time, you could grab yourself some excellent bargains.
New Zealand: Kia Ora – If you and the hubby are into sing-a-longs and road trips, this is the place for you. New Zealand has some pretty incredible landscapes, food and wine as well as some bucket list activities – Bungee Jumping anyone? while you’re at it, check out some film locations for that snap.

Vietnam & The Philippines: South East Asia is always a good idea and we love Vietnam and The Philippines. Theres just something magical about the kind hearted nature of the locals. Massages, beach, cocktails and budget friendly LUSH hotels, why not!?
Spain: Ahhhh Spain! The land of Sangria and Tapas – do we really need to say more!?
April
Paris: There’s good reason as to why so many proposals happen in Paris. At AWB HQ we believe Paris ooooozes all things love. From the banks of the Seine River to the Temple of Love, Paris is a fantastic choice! and guys seriously – Baguettes, Croissants,Wine (wait, let me just reiterate – CARBS, CARBS, CARBS!) start looking up those flights on Skyscanner people!
Portugal: Having recently returned from a 3 week holiday in Portugal, you’re hearing it first here… Portugal is the next big thing! Move over Greece, Italy and France. Portugal is AMAZING! from Castles, to beaches, siestas and impressive architecture. Portugal offers the best of Europe without the hefty price tag. What we loved – cobble stone streets, vineyards, beaches and walled towns.
Japan: April is the height of spring in Japan which means…CHERRY BLOSSOM SEASON! Try and stay in a traditional ryoken for a night or two, learn calligraphy and take part in tea ceremonies or hit the bright lights of Tokyo for endless adventures! If the above doesn’t satisfy your needs, hit up the beaches Okinawa or visit the northern island of Hokkaido.
May:
Italy: Magical Italy – bless! we’re digging the canals of Venice, the fine wine and trips to countryside from Florence to Tuscany, Cilento (a hidden gem! – google that NOW!) pizza in Naples, The Capri Islands and of course Rome and The Amalfi Coast. Ciao readers, we’re off to feast on some pasta al dente!
June:
Greece: Greece is designed for Island hopping. At AWB we vacay in Greece every summer, the good news? we know what we’re talking about when it comes to this beautiful place. Apart from the obvious islands, we highly recommend spending a fair amount of time in Crete – specifically Chania. Hire a car an explore the jaw dropping beaches like Seitan Lemani
July:
Seychelles: Pristine beaches and ultra lush resorts, the Seychelles provides an incredible setting for couples after a beach based honeymoon. With major resorts and hotels offering all inclusive packages and activities, you’ll find something new to do each day. Want to organise your adventures solo? not a worry either! be warned, like the Maldives, the Seychelles will set you back too.
Mozambique: Mozam-what!? Hey! we LOVE this one! why? think well-preserved corals, incredible beaches, palm trees, rich cultures and traditions as well as a crazy nightlife. This destination is perfect for the adventure lovers out there, be warned though, you’ll need to be travel savvy and be of the mindset “same same but different”.
August:
Amsterdam: Not all things are green here, unless your into that (if thats the case, go easy on the cookies!). Amsterdam is what you make of it… it can be a wild, hangover movie type scene or a relaxed one. Take a beautiful walk through the many parks whilst feasting on delicious foods and exploring sites such as Anne Franks house and the Van Gogh museum. We loved Madame Tussauds, the canal cruises, the wine and cheese tours and of course the shopping! Amsterdam has something to offer for everyone.
Tanzania: Tanzania is a once in a lifetime honeymoon destination filled with incredible wildlife and gorgeous beaches. Not your typical honeymoon hot spot – but if you’re into nature then this is a great spot. We suggest first doing a Safari tour then relaxing and unwinding at one of the beach front resorts – heads up, they are STUNNING!
September:
Ibiza: I know, I know… you probably thinking we’re sending you off to rave with David Guetta but we promise we’re not (you can however do that if you want to). Ibiza is known for being ‘THE’ party island during summer and although it’s true, it’s also a beautiful honeymoon destination around this time. The closing parties are in fall force and many tourists are usually hovering around bordering countries, so what to do? well… beaches, Ibicencan foods, spa experiences, farmlands, hikes and endless water sports.
Budapest: Known as the Paris of the East, Budapest certainly lives up to it’s reputation. Think gorgeous art, garden bars, amazing architecture, thermal baths and the stunning Danube Promenade. Thanks to Hungary’s weak currency, you’ll be able to land some epic bargains too. We love the abundances of churches, parks as well as the Hungarian music and dance lessons on offer.
October:
Mauritius: Mauritius is located 2,000 miles off the southeast coast of Africa, so it can be quite a trek for us Australians, however it’s well worth it. Our top picks are: The Chamarel Coloured Earth, a guided tour of Ile Aux Aigrettes, Port Louis and shop at Le Caudan Waterfront.
Cyprus: With Cyprus being the birthplace of Aphrodite – the Greek Goddess of Love, it was only fitting that this hot spot made the list. Cyprus offers fantastic weather conditions all year round making it a perfect honeymoon spot. Ancient cities, cute town centres, stunning coastal attractions, peninsulas, medieval villages and of course the infamous Larnaca beach.
November:
Buenos Aires: Let’s just say Tango, Malbec, Theatre, Horseback riding and ahhhh Love hotels (themed hotels where you and hubby can engage in a little ‘horizontal tango’)
December:
Cambodia and Laos: Why we love Cambodia and Laos? well it offers the perfect balance between romance and new adventures. It’s diversity is incredible and there will never be a day or evening where your thinking ‘hmm… there’s nothing to do’. For the ultimate ‘nawww’ moment, sail beneath the stars in Vietnam or take part in a couples massage.
