How to make sure your wedding make-up stays put all night

If you’re anything like me, makeup application is not my forte! hours and hours spent looking at Youtube tutorials on how to contour, bake, prep, prime, apply lashes – ahhhh!!! #overwhelming! however, if you’re looking at saving some coin, and if you’ve decided to apply your own make-up, follow these tips to ensure it stays put ALL NIGHT long.

Exfoliating

What you do to your skin before applying any makeup is super important. Step one is all about a gentle, pre-makeup exfoliator. Swipe it on before adding your moisturizer to remove dead cells and minimize pores.  Huda Beauty swears by this pre-makeup ritual.

Hydration

Nothing is more frustrating than fine lines and creased foundation, this occurs when your skin is lacking moisture. Hydrating your skin will give your makeup a clean base to stick to. It will also ensure those irritating creases that begin to show throughout the day are kept at bay.

Prime

Primers prep your skin for foundation application and helps your makeup stay boujee all night long. Tacky primers are great for long-lasting wear as they give your foundation a base to cling to. Many primers contain essential oils and vitamins that can also assist with hydration. If your anything like me and your eyeshadow melts into your eyelids, eye primers can also be bought and applied.

Foundation

For long-lasting wear, matte foundations will be your best friend! heavy oil-based ones will slip right off your skin. If you happen to have super dry skin and need oil-based formulas, opt for a matte foundation but ensure you adequately moisturize before application.

Powder Setting

A key step in your long-lasting look is your setting powder. A setting powder is exactly that, it sets your foundation and ensures everything stays put and in place. ‘Baking’ involves applying translucent setting powder under your eyes, nose, chin, and forehead. This process helps remove oxidization of the product whilst also preventing the appearance of fine lines and creases.

Long Lasting Products

When it comes to lip products, gently exfoliate your lips, apply a lip primer, apply long-lasting lip liner and apply your lippy. With eyeshadows, ensure the skin is clean, apply an eyeshadow primer and begin the blending process. Finish your look off with long wear/waterproof mascara and eyeliner.

Setting Spray

Your face is painted, you’ve contoured, blended, baked and highlighted, it’s time to spray your face! Use a couple of spritzes and let the spray dry. Don’t touch your face while it’s wet or you’ll undo all your efforts. As crazy as this sounds, If you run out of setting spray,  hairspray is an excellent substitute.

Have a wonderful day beauties
